Benjamin (37) and Karin (37) have been running Rondane River Lodge since August 2019 and moved from Belgium to Norway together with their 2 daughters Liv (7) & Mia (4). It has been a great adventure so far and we never regretted the choice for a more adventurous lifestyle in the Norwegian mountains. Of course the corona pandemic caused some unexpected challenges but thanks to the many Norwegian guests, we managed to continue the good work of the previous owners and learned Norwegian very fast. Meanwhile the first renovation projects were also realized among which a restyling of the restaurant, improvements in the cabins and 6 brand new hotel rooms.
It has been hard working since the start but the positive feedback from the guests, makes us willing to do even better. On the other side it’s sometimes challenging to find a good balance between professional and private life when running a lodge with 10 rooms, 10 cabins and a fully serviced restaurant. We never underestimated this but why not try to organize it better and share our project with others having the same dreams and ideas?
That’s how we got into contact with another Belgian family already making plans to start a new life in Norway. We never met them in person, as that was practically impossible due to the travel restrictions, but had a good feeling from the start during several online meetings. So why not giving this a serious chance?
