Short but rather steep hike to the summit of Muen, one of the most popular mountains on Venabygdsfjellet. From the top you enjoy a fantastic view over Rondane National Park and Ringebufjellet. Park your car at the dedicated parking place at the foot of Muen and follow the trailhead in eastern direction. Stay right at the first junction and follow the track to the previous Gråhøgdbu mountain cabin which was closed and removed in 2020. After about 2km, turn left to start ascending Muen. The trail gets steeper and steeper the closer you get to the summit and might involve some scrambling to find the easiest way through the many rocks. On the top there are many cairns where you can sit behind to find some shelter from the elements. Follow the same trail back but turn right after you have descended the steepest part, and follow the shorter northern route back to the parking place.
Even if this is a quite short hike, good fitness and sure-footedness are definitely required. Be prepared for stony/slippery tracks, wetlands and some smaller river crossings.
