Rondane River Lodge is surrounded by several rivers perfectly suitable for canoe trips. We rent out 2 canoes at the lodge for shorter trips on the friendly river in our backyard and on the nearby Setningen lake. For longer trips we recommend the Atna River which flows gently along the borders of the Rondane National Park. You will pass many beautiful picnic places and sandy beaches where you can stop for a rest or camp overnight. The rivers are mostly very calm and accessible for everyone without previous experience. The longer trips are slighly more challenging with occasional rapids and often some bigger waves on Atnsjø-lake.
Half day canoe trip from Rondane River Lodge on Vulua-river and Setningen-lake:
Fra hytta kan du padle en kort strekning på Vulua-elva og krysse innsjøen Setningen. Ved enden av vannet er det en fin gapahuk hvor du kan slappe av og gjøre opp et bål. Avstanden er 4 km enkel vei, og du må padle litt oppover på vei tilbake.

Half day canoe trip from Strømbu along Atna River:
Du kjører ca. 20 minutter til Strømbu utsiktspunkt for påmelding. Deretter blir dere kjørt til startpunktet i Eiriksrud. Her får dere kanoene og annet utstyr før dere legger ut på tur. Dere padler Atnaelva nedover ca. 12 km til dere kommer til Strømbu igjen. Her setter dere igjen kanoene og utstyret ved bredden før dere kjører tilbake til hytta.
500 NOK per canoe + 250 NOK for one way transportation to the starting point

Full day canoe trip from Strømbu along Atna River and Atnsjø-lake:
You drive about 15 minutes to Furulund and park your car there at the end of the canoe trip. Then you will be transferred 15 minutes onwards to the starting point in Eiriksrud. Here you get the canoes and other equipment before setting off. You first paddle the Atna river 12km downstreams to Strømbu (same as the half-day trip). From Strømbu you paddle an additional 6km downstreams until you reach the big Atnsjø-lake. Cross the lake, leave the canoes at the shoreside in Furulund, walk about 1km to your car and drive back to the lodge.
600 NOK per canoe + 750 NOK for one way transportation from Furulund to the starting point

2-days canoe trip from Strømbu along Atna River and Atnsjø-lake:
You can also book the full day trip on Atna River as a 2-days trip with overnight in a tent along the shore. The first day you will paddle the northern part of Atna River between Eiriksrud and Strømbu (12km). The second day you continue on the Atnsjø lake until Furulund (6km). But you are welcome to set-up a tent almost everywhere as long as you respect the rules of the Norwegian right of public access.
