This easy and enjoyable hike starts at the parking place immediately to the left when driving into Grimsdalsvegen. Follow the flat gravel road southwards to a private cabin and further until you reach the Gamle Grimsa Bru. This historic wooden bridge was built in 1870 and used to be part of the old valley road spanning the Grimse river. There is a nice shelter on your right side before crossing the bridge. Behind the bridge there is a short climb into the forest and you follow the trail to the right more or less parallel with the river. Dense forest alternates with open wetlands and you will soon start hearing the waterfall. Stay right when you come to a junction and the path starts to wind down to the small wooden bridge overlooking the powerful waterfall. Once over the bridge continue following the path. Optionally you can descend steep down to the river bed where a nice shelter and fireplace can serve as the perfect lunch spot. This is a popular place for rock climbing too. If not stay on the trail and follow it until you get to a farm. Cross the farm and you will soon reach the Grimsdalsvegen road. Follow the road to the right until you get back to the parking place.
Doable for most people with a normal physical condition. The track is not oficially signposted but quite easy to find. There are only a few steeper parts. The trail can be quite wet after rain.
