Beside the log cabins and hotel rooms at Rondane River Lodge, we also rent out the more secluded forest cabin Fjellsyn which can host up to 6 persons. It’s located in the forest on a sunny hillside overlooking Setningen lake, Vulua river and the valley surrounding Rondane River Lodge. It’s accessible by car and located just a 10 minutes walk from the lodge, so ideal for those wanting to endulge themselves in nature while still enjoying all the facilities at the lodge. From the cabin, there is direct access to hiking trails.
The forest cabin is the latest addition to Rondane River Lodge and has been completely renovated. We tried to preserve its authentic charm as a Norwegian timber cabin including, of course, a traditional grass roof that’s not only beautiful but isolates also very well. It has a cosy living room with stove and fireplace, a kitchen with additional sitting corner, 1 bedroom with a double bed, 1 bedroom with a bunk bed and an additional alcove room with a 150cm double bed. There is also a combustion toilet in the main building while the new annex building has a private electric sauna with panoramic window and a simple but modern bathroom with shower and sink. The huge panoramic terrace with garden furniture invites to sit in the sun from the early morning until sunset.
Although fully electrified on a secluded location, the forest cabin also comes with a compromise as this is the only cabin not having water access directly inside. There is a water tap on the terrace however, where you can fill bottles with drinkable natural spring water for use in the kitchen and to fill the water tank in the bathroom from time to time. It’s connected to a heater to ensure access to hot water in the shower and sink. It’s a very user friendly system which makes you more concious about water consumption at the same time. The forest cabin also has it’s own charging station for electric cars, making this definitely our most ecological accommodation.
Dogs are welcome for 125 NOK extra per night.

The cabin does not have running water inside but has its own spring and tap with drinking water on the terrace. In the bathroom there is a water tank, connected to a heater, which should be filled occasionally to have access to hot water in the shower and sink. It is a very user-friendly system.

During high season in summer the forest cabin can only be rented for a half (Sunday-Thursday or Thursday-Sunday) or whole (Sunday-Sunday) week.
