The iconic musk ox has its natural habitat in Dovrefjell National Park which is easily accessible from Hjerkinn, about a one hour drive from Rondane River Lodge. You can search for musk ox on your own but can increase your chances significantly when being accommpanied by a knowledgeable guide from Dovre Lesja. There are good opportunities to spot also grouse, arctic fox and maybe even a flock of wild reindeer.
