Stay 6 nights in a cozy hotel room or comfortable log cabin at Rondane River Lodge and join a wide selection of activities such as cross country skiing, snowshoeing, dogsledding or ice fishing. Warm up again in our wood-fired sauna when returning from your day adventure and savour delicious home-made meals in the restaurant.

Day 1:
The hosts welcome you at Rondane River Lodge and inform you about the week program. For sure you will be charmed instantly by the cosy lodge and the snowy forest around. Relax in your comfortable hotel room or log cabin and enjoy a home-made 3 courses welcome dinner in the restaurant.
Day 2:
After a tasty breakfast it’s time to try out snowshoe hiking. You will be explained the technique and set-off for a hike taking into account the weather conditions and level of the group. Both half and full day trips can be organized whether or not including a wilderness lunch around the open fire. You are free to use the snowshoe equipment on your own the rest of the day.
Day 3:
Today will be spent at one of the frozen lakes around Rondane River Lodge. Here you get familiar with another favorite outdoor activity for Norwegians: ice fishing. Try your luck and bring your catch back to the lodge where it can be prepared by the lady of the house. Free afternoon for more winter thrills. Make a winter hike, built a real snowman or snow igloo. Or try tobogganing from the hill on the opposite side of the road. Fun guaranteed for young and old.
Day 4:
Rondane National Park has unlimited possibilities for cross country skiing. Beginners will find perfectly groomed trails on the Venabu plateau. Rent material at the Venabu Fjellhotel and join an introductory lesson. You learn how to wax the ski’s and the right skiing technique. Then it’s time to set-off for a tour and built op confidence. For sure you will get the hang of it soon! Alternatively you can sign up for backcountry skiing and explore the snow outside the groomed trails. The technique is surprisingly easy and the destination will be chosen depending on the weather and abilities of the group. Put on the stove in your cabin upon return or relax with a drink next to the open fire in the lounge.
Day 5:
Take the chance to participate to a once-in-a-lifetime adventure and sign up for a dogsled safari. Upon arrival at the dogyard, you will be welcomed energetically by your furry friends. After some basic instructions on how to handle the sled(dogs), you set-off for a tour through snow covered forests and into the mountains. This is an experience not to be missed.
Day 6:
Today the choice is all yours. Try some more snowshoeing on your own, improve your skiing technique or make use of the kicksledges. Maybe you encounter wild moose or reindeer during your trip or join a guided musk ox safari in Dovrefjell National Park. Those who like kan also sign up for an idyllic horse sleigh ride with panoramic views over the mountains. Winter sports enthousiasts can reach Kvitfjell in just one hour. It’s home to the longest alpine skiing slope in Norway which was used during the 1994 Lillehammer Olympic Winter Games. Always dreamed about skiing the powder outside the slopes and want to feel confident? Get yourself familiar with beacon, probe and shovel during an avalanche course.
Day 7:
Time to say goodbye to the Norwegian mountains.

We can arrange transfers to the train station in Atna and to the various activities. Or you can arrange your own transport (private or rental car). Make sure you have winter tires and bring snow chains if possible as the roads can be icy.
The activities can be adapted to most ages and many of them are suitable for children from 3 years old. It’s possible to rent winter dresses from us. Please inform us about the required sizes in advance.
This program can be offered on request throughout the winter season for a minimum of 1 person.
When you book this package during Christmas and New Year you can sign up for our festive 5 courses dinner on Christmas or New Year’s eve. Weather allowing there will be celebrated also outside around the open fire with gløgg (Norwegian glühwein) and you can bake your own bread. Children are welcome to join a short torch hike around the lodge.
